The Power of The Holy Spirit

When you accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the Holy Spirit came upon you and began dwelling in you. God’s Spirit of Truth lives in you. Through it, you have access to God’s infinite wisdom, power, and peace at all times. Your body became a temple for the Holy Spirit. God’s Spirit dwells in you.

You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.

Acts 1:8

You’re powerful in Christ!

You have a supernatural power of God.

You may be fighting doubt, procrastination, fears, abuse, adversity, temptations, afflictions, anger, laziness, illness, addictions, gossip, insecurities, divorce, unemployment, self-hatred, bitterness, resentment, anxiety, depression, suicidal ideation, infidelity, infertility, inferiority, boredom, confusion, or condemnation. No matter what you’re facing, the Spirit of God dwells in you and gives you His power.

For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.

2 Timothy 1:7

Satan wants you confused, disorganized, doubtful, disoriented, hopeless, and powerless. As long as what you’re fighting is fought in the name of God, your victory has already been won on your behalf. Armed with God’s power, you can conquer any adversity and affliction!

You can step into God’s power, which is already in you, by praying. Prayer is your armor, your weapon, and your direct-dial with God. You can do anything and everything if you abde in the power of God’s through Christ. To do that, you’d need to get out of the way. So you first step is prayer. Your second step toward God’s infinite, sacred, divine power is wholehearted surrender of your own power.

Doing All Things Through Christ

I remember the day I was served with the divorce papers by my Christian husband whom I married just four months prior to that. I was at a Christian conference Harvest hosted by pastor Greg Laurie. A process server Jerry, who was hired by Michel’s attorney, served me with Michel’s divorce summons as I was walking into the house of God to worship with several thousands of people.

I remember Michel telling me that he wasn’t interested in being married to me anymore and wanted to be an IronMan and complete in Kona instead. It was a late evening. We already lived in two separate bedrooms at the time. I was in the master bedroom where I lived. I was wearing my grey Victoria’s Secret pj getting ready to go to sleep. I heard a knock on my bedroom door. I opened the door. It was Michel. I was sitting on the bed. He was sitting on the floor facing me. My heart was full of love and pain, all at the same time. I had been suffering for a while in this marriage. I felt exhausted, confused, disoriented, deceived, and depressed.

Michel was my husband who had begged me to marry him just a few months ago. Now, he was rejecting me as his wife saying he changed his mind. I remembered walking down the aisle as Michel was standing there waiting for me, with tears in his eyes. Our church friends and family were there to witness us being united in marriage.

Here’s our wedding video.

I gave up my name as Anna Stevens, an award-winning author and speaker. And following Michel’s request to honor him by taking his last name, the wedding officiant announced Mr. and Mrs. Szabo. I became Anna Szabo. Yet, now, Michel changed his mind…

A few months after our wedding, Michel filed for divorce. Now, he was sitting there in our marital residence saying how disinterested he was in me and how passionate he felt about his IronMan bicycle. How could that be? I felt devastated, betrayed, dehumanized, disrespected, humiliated, insulted, invalidated, misled, manipulated, cheated on, abandoned, and rejected. My life felt surreal…

Day by day, our marriage became more and more confusing. I was fighting his divorce wanting to work on our marriage through counseling but he was fighting me. The mental cruelty I endured resulted in my steady and fast cognitive and emotional decline. I was dealing with the Narcissist and the entire situation in my own power.

Very quickly, I became exhausted and depressed. Soon, I was severely suicidal, mostly staying in bed, feeling paralyzed by all the adversity and pain. I was contemplating: to be or not to be. I felt like there was nothing for me to hold on to, no reason to keep going. Anywhere I looked, I just saw lies, cheating, betrayal, hopelessness, and despair. I was sick: physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.

All my life was sucked out of me.

I was exhausted and didn’t have any physical strength at all. Procrastination, confusion, and fears were taking over. Laundry was piled up on my California king size bed, leaving me just a few inches to sleep on. Dirty dishes were built up into piles, and bugs were all over the kitchen. Trash was full, and the smell was awful. But I wasn’t able to do anything. I just didn’t have any strength to do even simple chores. I surely had no strength to fight for anything big and important. My power was gone. I felt powerless. I leaned on Jesus.

I can do all this through Christ who gives me strength.

Philippians 4:13

I bought this scripture as a wall decal and installed it in my bedroom to see it every morning as soon as I woke up. The Holy Spirit began talking to me. God revealed to me where my strength was rooted and how to access it. He taught me how to pray. He showed me how to connect to the one and only source of true strength and power. I learned who I was in Christ by studying what God said about me. I studied God’s promises and got grounded in His word, His truth, and His purpose for my life. I strategically placed Philippians 4:13 verse right before my eyes so that it was always the first thing I saw and could ponder in my heart.

Miracles began to happen. I got my laundry done. Then, conquered my dishes. I was able to take out my stinky trash. I felt empowered and cleaned up my entire home. I finally organized my life. I slowly put my head back together, too, as I progressed through my narcissistic abuse recovery. I built up my physical strength through regular exercise, proper nutrition, and quality sleep. I was ready to get up and stand strong on my two feet and fight the good fight.

The power that brought me back to life and healed my suicidal depression was not natural. It was supernatural. I didn’t do any of those things in my own strength. I did all those things through Christ. I surrendered my own power to God, and God blessed me with His power. I leaned on the Lord. I prayed without ceasing. And He made my path straight. Then, I was asked to comfort you with the same comfort I received from God. How? I was asked to establish this Christian ministry.

God asked me to tell His all creation about Jesus and share the good news of the Gospel. He called me to start a Christian podcast for women. I was full of self-doubt. But when you know confidently that all things are possible through Christ, you feel empowered, capable, and effective just trusting God’s leadership on your path. I realized this one truth that empowered me to fight for what really matters. Here it is… Christ sacrificed His precious life for me so I can be free from self-doubt and insecurities. He redeemed me at a high price so that I can be His and leverage His power to do good works, which God prepared in advance for me to do. With His death on the cross, Jesus issued a directive against my self-doubt because He proved, through the resurrection, His supernatural power. Jesus conquered death, doubt, depression, and devastation.

When I accepted Jesus as my lord and savior, He gave me His supernatural power through the Holy Spirit who came upon me. I am powerful because Christ is my strength. I do all things through Christ, every day. I did establish a Christian ministry, as you can see. I did start a podcast and wrote Christian books. I published spiritual poems to encourage and empower you. I started speaking publicly and sharing my story, giving God all the honor and glory.

I did all this in the power of Christ.
