Did you know that you’ve been set apart by God for His special purpose? In this daily devotional, I will share with you “I am anointed by God” Biblical affirmation as well as answer “What is anointing prayer?” I’ll take you on a journey of how I discovered that I am anointed by God to preach the Gospel. My background is abuse, sex addiction, and alcoholism.

What Does It Mean To Be Anointed?

The meaning of the word “anointed” is “chosen one.” You may feel like you’re ordinary and your life is nothing special but you have a unique anointing on your life. The Bible says that Jesus Christ was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit to spread the Good News and free those who have been held captive by sin (Luke 4:18-19; Acts 10:38). When you accept Christ into your heart, the Holy Spirit moves into your body. Jesus gave us the gift of the Holy Spirit.

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever – the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you.

John 14:16-17

What is that special anointing?

The Holy Spirit is God’s truth, you can ask for wisdom and answers. You can talk to the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit talks to you. You can learn to see God and His works. It takes practice but if you commit to it, you’ll notice God’s presence everywhere and you’ll be able to talk to the Holy Spirit all the time about everything. That’s how you develop a close, intimate relationship with Christ. I wrote the poem “God’s Presence Everywhere” about the topic of God’s presence as He was revealing His anointing on my life to me and I had a revelation.

"God's Presence Everywhere" #PoemsFromGod

God, I see your presence everywhere.
To hear your voice for me is not at all rare.
Once I finally quit being worldly and blind,
Now, in everything your glory I can find.

Anywhere I look, there you are!
In my suffering, you count my every scar.
My pain you turn from dust into beauty
As I follow your calling and fulfill my duty.

God, I don’t need any special presents.
All I want is to continue being in your presence.
I love leaning on you and having you near.
To my heart, your presence is very dear.

The Purpose of God’s Anointing

Many people today are lost. Suicide became a “major public health problem,” according to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO). People today trap themselves in comparisons, unforgiveness, bitterness, self-condemnation, self-hatred, and hopelessness. Yet, when you know the truth of the Gospel, you can help God’s kingdom.

As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

1 John 2:27

Remaining in Him” means abiding in Christ.

Abiding in Christ means obeying His commands.

How To Abide In Christ

Abiding means accepting, following, upholding, and obeying.

Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me.

John 15:4

Jesus (the vine) commanded us (the branches) to abide in Him (to obey His teachings) in order for us to bear Fruit. What Fruit? Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23).

The outcome of bearing the Fruit is clear conscience, blessings, righteousness, joy, and prosperity (Psalm 1:1-3, Proverbs 21:21, Hebrews 13:18). You can see it’s illustrated in detail via the ITCEBO model below. Click the image to download high resolution.

The outcomes of the Holy Spirit (the Fruit of the Spirit) are very much needed in the world today. People need to hear the Gospel. If you know and accept the Good News and you abide in Christ, you can share the good news of God’s grace and salvation with people all around you. Sharing hope with others helps further God’s kingdom.

That’s why He anointed us as Christians.

If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

John 8:31-32

You have been set by the truth of the Gospel. You can help set others free from fear, anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, self-hatred, and hopelessness. You can do it by sharing the Good News.

What does it mean to be anointed?

Being anointed means being set apart for a special purpose.

What are the benefits of anointing?

The benefits of anointing are having, understanding, and living out a divine purpose for your life.

How do I activate the power of God?

You activate the power of God’s anointing by surrendering to His will and praying to God to reveal His divine anointing on your life to you.

What is anointing prayer?

Dear God, I know that you have a purpose for me. I know you created me to do good works, which you prepared in advance for me to do. I know that you have a perfect plan for me to advance your kingdom. Heavenly Father, reveal to me your anointing and show me how to understand, accept, embrace, and live it out for your glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Accepting God’s Anointing

When we learn to be led by the Holy Spirit in us, we can talk to God through the Holy Spirit. We will hear God’s voice. What we hear comes from God’s word. I talk to Him every day, and the more I do, the closer I feel to God. When we abide in Christ, ask God for wisdom, and strive to share hope with others, we live out our purpose. If you’d like to start talking to God listen to my podcast called “How to talk to God.”

You’ve been anointed with God’s wisdom and infinite intelligence. You’ve been set apart for His purpose. It’s His gift through Christ, which you get by placing your faith in Jesus.

God gives this gift as a demonstration of His unconditional love, grace, and passion. When you place your faith in Christ, your faith unlocks God’s anointing on your life.

You must use God’s special anointing on your life to help advance His kingdom. You must tune in and listen to the Holy Spirit speak to you about the things that really matter right now in your life and in the lives of those around you.

And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession — to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 1:13-14

My personal example is this Christian ministry for women. I was called by God to use my marketing expertise and the gift of writing to share the Gospel through blogs, videos, and podcasts. This ministry is dedicated to helping alleviate suicide among women globally by sharing hope in Christ. God also called me to create a collection of Christian apparel for women to encourage and empower you with His word.
