How to hear God’s voice directly

Have you been wondering how to hear God’s voice? Since 2017, I’ve been asked many times by Christian women: “How can I hear the inner voice of God?” and “How do I listen to God after prayer?” and “How can I hear God’s answer?” Today, I’ll share with you how to hear from God directly, clearly, and regularly. I’ll also give you a unique prayer to hear God’s voice.

Prayers To Help You Talk To God

Introduction

In 2017, I began hearing God’s voice. It happened after I surrendered to His will for my life, which happened after I realized His purpose for my life, which I discovered during Biblical counseling and daily prayers.

Do YOU know the purpose of your life?

Do you know the purpose of YOUR life?x

That year was very difficult: I was enduring narcissistic relationship abuse in my marriage, going through a divorce, battling suicidal depression, and learning to trust God with everything, including my relationships, career, finances, and mental health.

It was also when I received “Poems From God.”

That year resulted in a new life for me: the life I love!

The transformation of my life, health, and identity happened when I learned and mastered hearing God’s voice. Since then, God blessed me in many ways. People, who witnessed my journey, have asked me many times: share how to hear from God.

Now, I am ready to share.

This is by far my favorite topic.

And I’ll give you my unique Prayer To Hear God’s Voice.

Let’s get started!

How To Hear from God

I am Russian. Do you know what it means? I’m about to tell you as it is, without any Southern-American sugarcoating. You ready? If you want to know how to hear from God, you must get out of your own way. What do I mean by this? Here’s me telling you the truth: you want God to tell you what you want to hear.

You know it’s true.

You want God to speak to you and tell you exactly what you want to hear. Your desire is to get approval. The reason why you’re not peaceful about what you want to hear about is that you know it isn’t what God wants for you.

Yo want God to approve of what you want to do.

This isn’t how it works, though.

If you want to know how to hear from God, I’ll tell you right now: you need to genuinely want to hear God’s voice. You must desire for God to speak to you – not about what you want to hear but about what you need to hear.

You don’t know what you need to hear from God because you don’t know what you don’t know. But God knows everything: He knows what you don’t know and He knows what you need to know.

God will speak to you about the things you need to hear from Him if and when you’re ready to hear His voice. Let me also be honest. Many people ask me how to hear from God, however, when I tell them how God speaks to me, they freak out and say with blunt honesty: I am not ready, I would not obey God even if He spoke to me. Um… Ok…

Here’s my key secret to hearing from God: you need to be genuinely ready, meaning you need to get out of your own way and stop living in your own flesh and power.

Get out! Move away! Give yourself up!

Surrender to God completely. When you do, He will make you new and set you on fire. Pray my “Prayer To Hear God’s Voice” below. God will speak to you. You will hear God’s voice. Now, the sea won’t part and the clouds won’t come down.

Let me tell you how to hear the voice of God in real life. I will give you practical examples of how I heard, discerned, listened to, and obeyed God’s voice. This is not about what you want.

God is not Santa.

He made you. You didn’t make Him.

If you’re reading this just because you want to manage or manipulate God, stop now. This Christian blog for women is a waste of your time. Click away. Find yourself something better to do than reading this content. I can’t help you manage or manipulate God. Plus, it’s stupid, and you’ll end up exactly where you are, so, goodbye now!

However, if you are tired of living on your own and aimlessly wandering in circles like a dead zombie, if you’re hungry for God’s wisdom and understanding, if you are truly ready to surrender and step into your divine purpose, let me tell you how to hear the voice of God.

How To Hear God’s Voice Clearly

As you can see, my ten steps for how to hear God’s voice are no rocket-science. You don’t need a Master’s degree from Stanford University to understand what you need to do. Yet, you might still not do it.

Why? Because you don’t want to do what God wants you to do. How do I know? I’ve worked with many women through my Christian coaching program and tools, and I’ve seen this pattern again and again. It’s too common, and it’s too familiar because I am a human, too.

I battle God and pretend like I’m deaf and can’t hear His voice. This is where we’re both supposed to laugh, only it ain’t funny. When I pretend not to hear the voice of God, I make my life miserable. There’s no peace. There’s no joy. There’s a war on the inside…

You might be reading this article because you’re conflicted: God is trying to speak to you but you’re running away making excuses for not hearing God’s voice. I know many women like that. But the biggest thing is not that I know them. The biggest thing is that they themselves know that they are like that. How? They are conflicted.

They are conflicted because they are convicted.

Yet, they pretend that they don’t understand.

Listen to me: you can pretend all you want.

You know the truth though.

You can’t trick yourself.

So, why are you here?

Why are you reading this blog post?

You want to start hearing God’s voice?

If you landed on this article, I know that you’re seeking.

If you’re seeking, it’s because you’re conflicted.

You are conflicted because you are convicted.

You are convicted because God wants you to be His.

I am going to give you some real-life examples that will spook you and make you uncomfortable. Are you ready? In the natural, no one can understand these things, but if you’re tuned in with the spiritual realm, you will probably cry from the feeling of overwhelming joy.

It’s important to understand something of the greatest significance of all. God speaks to His own sheep – those people whom He calls His children. The children of God are those who placed their faith in Jesus Christ. When you place your faith in Christ, God gives you a new heart of flesh instead of your old heart of stone, God gives you a new identity in Christ, and He gives you the Holy Spirit.

He is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor recognizes him. But you recognize him, because he lives with you and will be in you.

John 14:15-17

How I Heard God’s Voice About My Church

I was attending a church for many years where I got saved and baptized. There, I met the narcissist who deceived me into a marriage with him. Read How Satan Came at Me Looking Saint. When his deception was revealed, that church betrayed my trust and revealed private information about me. God opened my eyes to some satanic activity in that church and took me out of there. It happened over time because I was at first refusing to believe what God was telling and showing me.

God taught me about spiritual warfare and Satan, and I got out of that church finally because everything God was saying became so clear in plain sight. Immediately, God showed me which church He had waiting for me. I took a membership interview there and joined as a member right away.

At the old church, as its satanic activity was revealed to me, I felt unsettled, anxious, and tense. At the church where the Holy Spirit led me, I felt peace and joy. There, I found wise counsel which was in compliance with the word of God. My life transformed at that church where the Holy Spirit led me. God’s voice told me where I belonged but it was up to me to listen and obey. I’m glad that I did. That happened in 2017.

How I Heard God’s Voice About My Ministry

I was battling a severely suicidal depression while living with the narcissist and enduring mental cruelty, driving 50 miles each way to go to work daily, being physically exhausted, mentally drained, and nearly hopeless.

At the time, I was also in Biblical counseling.

I started receiving #52Devotionals from God. If you’re not familiar with 52 devotionals, they are Biblical affirmations with scriptures, which God gave me during that tough season. They answer the question: “Who am I in Christ?” They help you dive deep into the Biblical answer to your question: “What does God say about me?”

God gave me those Biblical affirmations and asked me to document them. He spoke to me every single day showing me my future. In my future, YOU were reading my Christian ministry blog, which you’re doing right now, whichever year that is when you’re reading my words. I didn’t have a blog, I never planned to have a ministry, but God spoke to me. He told me that I will have a Christian ministry, that I will provide Christian coaching for women, and that I will be sharing His gospel with all the nations. Today, thousands of people read my blog, listen to my Christian podcast for women, and watch my YouTube videos every day.

I heard from God about this directly and indirectly but very clearly. God spoke to me directly every day through the Holy Spirit but I was pretending to be deaf. Why? I was scared, I didn’t feel good enough, and the list of excuses goes on. So, God sent my friend to my home. She came here and said looking me straight in the eye with her huge brown eyes: “Women are dying everywhere by suicide from no hope, and you’ve been equipped and prepared by God for the time as such! You must start your ministry now.” So, I did.

Here we are 1,000,000 words of content later… I regularly receive letters from women who say: “I was going to kill myself but found your blog, podcast, and videos, and now I have hope.”

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

In 2019, God asked me to quit my job as a Director of Marketing in technology and focus on this ministry. I journaled about my conversations with God for two weeks, every single day, and I quit my job. For the last 15 months, I’ve been focused on this ministry, and God provided for all my needs. If you want to be a part of God’s good plan for this ministry and desire to support my work in His kingdom, donate now.

Abandoning my cool high-heels-and-dresses tech SaaS life was hard. I have been working at home, often in pjs, doing the work God called me to do, alone. God gave me perseverance, contentment, and peace. When I refused to hear God’s voice and pretended deaf holding on to my tech job, I was in turmoil every day. Hearing the voice of God and ignoring it leads to an internal conflict.

How I Heard God’s Voice About Toastmasters

God called me to do public speaking on His behalf but I resented the idea because I felt not qualified. In the article about Toastmasters, I describe in detail how my journey unfolded, how I heard and obeyed the voice of God, and what He had done through my obedience in the area of Christian speaking.

How I Heard God’s Voice About a Homeless Woman

God called me to help a homeless pregnant African-American teen I saw sitting on the side of the road in the Fall of 2019. I was able to help feed her, find her a home, get her medical attention, clothes, shoes, money, and hope. It’s described in detail, with videos and pictures, in my article called How To Be Kind. Jami was planning her suicide that day. She was weeping when I stopped by to help her. I was driving home, and I heard God’s voice because I paid attention, even in the busynness of life and heavy traffic. That’s why we must always be of sober mind and alert if we want to hear God’s voice.

How I Heard God’s Voice About TEDx

God called me to a global TEDx stage. I submitted for one audition, where I was rejected, then, went to a live speaker audition for a different TEDx event and was the only speaker chosen and announced that same morning. I described this experience in detail, with pictures and video, in a blog post about TEDx Marietta Square. What happened that morning at the audition was surreal. The Holy Spirit was present there the entire time, and I was so overwhelmed by God’s voice, I wept, and then, I was in shock. God will speak to you and call you to do the things you’re scared to do. Do it scared! I do it scared.

How I Heard God’s Voice About Salmon

I have been praying to God during this Coronavirus pandemic that He would reveal Himself to me and show me that He cares, that individual prayers matter, that He hears about our needs, and that He has a good plan.

On Tuesday night, I dreamed about salmon. What? Yes. You probably know that I eat a plant-based diet. So, I was puzzled, to say the least. Yesterday in the morning, I was compelled to go buy salmon. I told my neighbor Fllame during our morning walk how odd this was and that I was puzzled. She said I could use her Costco membership if I wanted to go get salmon at Costco.

I wanted to ponder the situation.

At about 5:30 pm, I was obsessed with the idea of salmon, so I called Fllame, and she didn’t answer. I decided to go to Sprouts instead since I am not a member at Costco and cant shop there. Once the decision about Sprouts was made, Fllame called and said she wanted to go to Sprouts, too. So, we went.

As I was pulling into the Sprouts’ parking lot, there was a homeless woman sitting on the side of the road alone. She was white and elderly. I pulled over and asked if I could buy her a meal. She said yes. I asked what she really wanted to eat.

Are you ready for it?

Seriously, are you ready to hear this woman’s response?

She said: “Salmon.” My jaw dropped.

I got my prayers answered: God is listening to each individual prayer, prayers matter to Him, He is at work, He has a plan, and to fulfill the desire of a homeless woman for salmon He will even get me out of my comfort zone and send me to buy salmon for her!

At 7 pm, I gave the woman her food.

I came home, checked my email, and there was a donation to my ministry received at 7 pm. The message with the donation said: “We are warriors!” Yes, we are! When we hear the voice of God and do what He calls us to do, even scared and uncomfortable, He will accomplish great things in His kingdom through us and bless us with peace and joy. Be God’s warrior!

How To Hear from God Directly

You can hear from God directly. He has a direct dial with you. But you need to answer when God is calling, and don’t pretend that the reception is bad and you can’t hear His voice. If you don’t pick up when God is dialing you directly, He may use others, like my friend, to tell you His message. He may also do some things that will force you to slow down and be still: cancer, car accident, etc.

In 2018, I was running away from God to avoid the painful and hard work He called me to do through this Christian ministry. I sought safety in my technology marketing career. On August 24th, 2018, at 5 pm, while waiting in my Prius to make one final turn into my neighborhood, I was in heavy traffic. What happened? Take a guess!

I was rear-ended by a Jeep and sandwiched between two SUVs. I suffered a concussion and some injuries. For four weeks, I was unable to work and stayed home. Did I work on God’s ministry? You bet!

Now, let me answer some frequently asked questions about hearing God’s voice. I’ll tell you as it is, no sugarcoating. You must remember that God wants to speak to you, He will be dialing you directly, He will use other believers to pass His messages to you, but if you’re not home, if you’re not answering, if you’re pretending to be deaf, or if you’re playing the game of amnesia with God, I’m telling you: don’t. Bad things may happen to you to slow you down, to quiet your psyche, to force you to answer when God calls.

Coronavirus Pandemic Relief Prayer by Anna Szabo

How can I hear the inner voice of God?

Hearing God’s voice requires that you pray the Prayer To Hear God’s Voice and then you listen. Hearing from God demands that you pay attention and that you don’t try to manipulate to your liking what God says to you. You must be God’s to hear His voice. It happens through the Holy Spirit, once you give your life to Christ.

How do I listen to God after prayer?

To listen to God after your Prayer To Hear God’s Voice, you must be still. Read His word. Journal. Silence the worldly chatter. Escape distractions. When you hear, listen, and compare the message with God’s word. God’s voice doesn’t speak against God’s word. Document what happens in your prayer, review, and you’ll gain clarity. When you hear God’s voice, do what He calls you to do, don’t run away like Jonah, or you’ll end up in the belly of a fish…

How can I hear God’s answer

Here’s how you’ll hear God’s answers to your Prayer To Hear God’s Voice. I’ll showcase you from my real-life examples, through my poem called Answered Prayers:

God, I asked you for a women’s ministry, and you gave me an abusive spouse.
I prayed for less anger and more patience,  and you gave me a flooded house.

I was so confused at first but having reviewed my life, I understood you.
I examined my prayers and your answers and finally I got the divine clue.

I wanted a women’s ministry, so you had to equip me with fortitude and endurance.
You gave me a cruel husband to reveal your wisdom and bless me with reassurance…

That my life is guided by you and that your plan for me is truly good.
Facing my flooded home without any anger today, your ways I understood.

God, thank you for answering my prayers in your unconventional and divine way.
I surrender to you, I follow you, your will and guidance with gratitude I obey.

Prayer To Hear God’s Voice

Dear God,

You say "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me." (John 10:27). I am your sheep. You are my shepherd. I want to hear your voice. Reveal yourself to me. Make your voice loud and clear, and I will follow. Show me the way, and I will walk with you.

You say "Whoever is of God hears the words of God. The reason why you do not hear them is that you are not of God." (John 8:47). I am examining my heart and see that my genuine desire is to be yours, God. Am I of you and don't hear your voice because of all wordly chatter in my life? Or am I not of you, and that's why I don't hear your voice, God?

You say "The word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12). God, I want to belong to you and only you. I think my heart is pure but if you discern that my heart isn't truly pure and if you examine me and decide that I'm not yet yours, which is why I can't hear your voice, make me yours, God, I want to be yours. Show me how to be yours. Speak to me. Lead me. Take me where I need to go. Help me walk in your purpose for my life.

You say "Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known."(Jeremiah 33:3). I am calling to you, God, please answer, speak to me clearly and directly. My desire for your wisdom and will is burning, and I want to honor you with my life. I want to fulfill your purpose.

You say "Faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ." (Romans 10:17). I spend time every day in the word. I am seeking your voice. Father, I want to grow and mature in my faith. My eyes are set on Jesus Christ, and my heart is desiring more of you. Help me hear your divine voice when I am in the word every day, God. And, through hearing, please increase my faith, Father.

In the marvelous name of Jesus Christ I pray.

Amen.
