How To Change Your Life - Anna Szabo

In this article, I’m going to tell you exactly how to change your life in seven simple steps. Today is New Year’s Day. I am celebrating in Atlanta, GA where it’s raining all day today. I spent quality time with my best friend Maria for about five hours, having a vegan feast and sharing gratitude by the fireplace, surrounded by candles, soft lights, and chill music.

How did you celebrate 2021?

Before I tell you how to live better in 2021 and how to change yourself into a better person, I want to honestly disclose that this information isn’t from a book I read or something I heard from someone else.

How to change your life completely in seven steps is the transformational process I personally went through to change my own life and improve myself, my health, my career, my relationships, and every aspect of living.

Just a few years ago, I wanted to know how to have a better life and how to change yourself into a better person. I was suicidally depressed and didn’t want to live at all. Trapped in an abusive marriage, I was enduring narcissistic cruelty every day, becoming unhealthy, overwhelmed, fatigued, and overweight. I had tens of thousands of dollars of debt, no motivation, and no vision for the future.

I had no idea how to move forward, how to improve my life, how to better myself….. Dullness, devastation, despair, and depression were my dominating daily feelings. I needed help to get unstuck. I was wondering how to change my life and how to become better because my life wasn’t working and I didn’t like myself.

That’s when God spoke to me and led me to take the seven steps I will be sharing with you today to show you exactly how to change your life in 2021. The process is simple but not easy. It takes time, effort, and focus. Most importantly, changing your life takes faith.

RELATD: What Is Faith?

Just so you know how bad things were in my life, here’s my journal entry from the time when I was contemplating ending my life a few years ago. I wrote “I feel like I just need to die. It sucks to be alive. My life sucks, and it sucks to be me…”

My life was falling apart: divorce, job loss, betrayal by friends, and financial troubles. Moreover, that wasn’t the first season of adversity for me. I had already experienced being molested, raped, tortured, being enslaved, enduring domestic violence in another marriage, being homeless, battling addictions, and the list of adversity I endured in life goes on… It’s all shared in my blog post called “Getting to know Anna Szabo.” A few years ago, I felt like I was facing a dead-end… I was almost feeling hopeless. That’s when God spoke to me and led me to follow Him as I took the seven simple steps to change my life, and here I am today: God gave me a new, better life, and a new, better me! In the process, my relationship with Him improved and my faith got wider, deeper, bigger, and stronger.

Now, it’s time for me to tell you exactly how to change your life in 2021 following my seven simple steps. As I share my life-transformation formula with you in a moment, I want you to dwell on Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight.”

No matter what you’re struggling with… If you don’t see a way out, trust in the Lord wholeheartedly! If it seems like things won’t ever get better, lean not on your own understanding! In all your way, acknowledge the goodness of God, lean into His loving arms for comfort, and follow Him on a path He is showing you.

How To Change Your Life In 2021

  1. Perform an assessment of where you are, what’s working, what’s not working, what good habits you already have, which habits you want to develop in the future, where you are in terms of your character, mental health, physical wellbeing, social relationships, professional career, personal finance, fulfilling hobbies, and your overall life satisfaction.
  1. Document your discoveries in a journal, make it visual so that you can have a clear picture of all aspects of your current life exactly as it is, without hiding the truth from yourself.
  1. Set goals for the kinds of things you want: working out, making money, feeling stable, growing your faith, developing new skills like self-care, meditation, praying daily, practicing gratitude, learning how to build a blog, starting a podcast, getting a graduate degree, or even moving to another country as I did.
  1. Break down your goals into small actions, which you can take every single day, consistently. You have to ensure the actions are so irresistibly small that you just can’t help but take them.
  1. Take action. Don’t procrastinate. Don’t make excuses. Take action every day, consistently. To give you a perspective, at the time when I was suicidally depressed, taking action every day looked like getting out of bed and taking a shower, unloading a half of the dishwasher, and eating something. Now, for me, a woman who graduated from four universities, moved to another country, taught herself English in 18 months, and created a new life, those small actions seemed insignificant. Yet, I took them consistently, and here I am today, living the life of my dreams. God healed me but I had to use my free will to take action consistently in a steadfast faithful way as the Bible describes it.
  1. Track your progress – honestly. If you succeed, document it. It you fail, documentos too so that you can have a true and clear picture of how you’re doing.
  1. Improve while also giving yourself compassion and grace. When you fail, don’t condemn and berate yourself. Write yourself a gratitude letter for trying to prove your life and become a better person. Then, start over and take action consistently, faithfully, and boldly.

Now, you know exactly how to change your life in 2021 as a Christian woman. I want to know: why do you want to change your life in 2021? Share with me in the comments below.
