Have you ever asked yourself “Who Am I In Christ?” or “What Does God Say About Me?” or “Who Does The Bible Say I Am?” If you are wondering about your identity in Christ, let me share my list of answers and scriptures. These are 52 Biblical Affirmations from my conversations with God. My hope is that they will encourage and empower you. In the season of divorce, depression, and despair, God’s word comforted me and gave me the strength I needed to persevere. To learn more about my story of faith and understand my emotional struggles, as well as their origin, read “Getting to know Anna Szabo.”

God, I’m thinking negative thoughts again:

That I’m unworthy, unloved, unwanted, and unimportant.

They paralyze me, depress me, and really drain

All my energy out of me, even being inadvertent.

God, what do you think about me?

What words do you use to describe me?

What future for my life can you see?

And after you created me, do you actually like me?

Knowing Who I Am In Christ

Knowing who I am in Christ changed how I live my life: my habits, my priorities, my thinking, what I do, whom I spend time with and why, what I talk about, and my career commitments, as well.

If you don’t know my story, I was born in Soviet Russia to a single mom who hated me and wanted me dead. The kinds of things she said to me really impacted what I believed about the world, myself, and my future.

Trying to cope with all the abuse I was enduring, I became a sex addict and an alcoholic. I slept around all while also performing well educationally. I am a graduate of four universities. I went on to marry and divorce three times in ten years, and it was all due to how I perceived myself, who I believed I was, which was influenced by my mother, my family, and their abuse. Then, I hit the rock bottom, had an encounter with Jesus, gave my life to Christ, and became His disciple.

RELATED: Who Is Jesus?

After that, God worked in me, slowly ridding me of my addictions. I knew I was a child of God and sin was not my master, but I didn’t understand the full extent of my Identity in Christ.

In 2015, I had an encounter with Satan (spiritual warfare) who manipulated me into suicidal depression in 2016-2017. It was during that time, fighting for my life, I decided to study extensively who I am in Christ.

Through my conversations with God, during that time, 52 Biblical truths about who God says we are as His children was revealed to me in the form of Biblical Affirmations with Scriptures.

My collection of #52Devotionals was born.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will – to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. With all wisdom and understanding, he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ, to be put into effect when the times reach their fulfillment – to bring unity to all things in heaven and on earth under Christ. In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession – to the praise of his glory.

Right now, I would like to give you a prayer you can pray to be able to accept, understand, and embrace your identity in Christ. Pray this prayer to get your mind away from who the world, your boss, your relatives, or social media trolls say you are.

Get grounded, using this prayer, in who God says you are.

Dear God,

You made your word, truth, and wisdom known to me.

From this day on, I understand who I am in Christ.

Reveal to me the practical application of this new information. Take my mind off of the opinions of others about me. Open up my eyes, mind, and heart to what you say about me, God.

Teach me, Father God, how to step into my identity as a loved, accepted, purpose-driven, anointed, gifted, Spirit-filled, powerful, courageous, kind, loving, capable, and blessed child of the King of the universe.

When I'm in doubt, in fear, paralyzed by anxiety, overwhelmed by life, or angry with people, let me remember who I am in Christ.

Enable me to walk in my royal and divine identity daily.

Guide me, Father God. Show me the way now that I know exactly what you think and say about me. Embed these truths in my mind, spirit, emotions, and heart so that I can be encouraged and empowered.

Use my story for your glory, God.

In Jesus' name.

Amen.

I’ve given you many free resources. Let me bless you with one additional free gift. I put together a book of these 52 affirmations and devotionals. My free ebook helps you understand who God says you are.
