meditation self-care challenge

Have you ever thought about guided meditation for self-care? From my personal experience, I know that Christian guided meditation has many benefits for the human mind, the brain, the body, and the soul. Today, I’ll invite you to do meditation self-care challenge. I’ll answer your questions, such as “How do you meditate for 10 minutes a day?” and “How does meditation assist in self-help?” and even my favorite “Can meditation change your life?” Meditation changed my life.

Introduction

In December of 2016, I was very sick, hanging on the edge of my last hope. I was exhausted from narcissistic relationship abuse in my marriage. It was a dark and devastating time. I felt hopeless, disoriented from gaslighting and other mental cruelty tactics, with which my mind was manipulated daily.

I felt depressed and suicidal.

There were days when I experienced prolonged and severe panic attacks from the Complex PTSD, with which I was diagnosed after a few months of being married to the narcissist. My life was miserable. I shared some detailed narcissistic abuse examples on this blog.

I remember being on my knees on the floor in tears weeping and asking God for help to push through the adversity in my marriage, to persevere with fortitude, to have hope, to grow my faith, and to survive narcissistic abuse. God always hears our prayers and answers.

I know how to hear God’s voice, so I was tuned in, and God led me to a meditation app. For the first time, I tried meditation for self-care because I was overwhelmed and at the end of my rope. My life has never been the same ever since. Meditation changed my life.

Actually, meditation saved my life…

I started meditating and healing.

Later, I began creating healing meditations.

As of today, tens of thousands of women all over the world have enjoyed my guided meditations, and recently, a popular Christian meditation app invited me to partner with their team in an effort to narrate a Christian lullaby for adults. This now is the work on my life and I love helping people heal in such an intimate way! Here are some of the meditations I created.

Meditation Self-Care Challenge

Guided Meditation for Self-Care

I remember many days when I was unable to function. The overwhelming burdens of my life were too much for me to handle. The man I just married in May of 2016, filed for divorce in September of 2016 saying he was not interested in me anymore and wanted to be an IronMan instead.

I described my story in an essay called IronMan vs Marriage. He called his bicycle “my other wife I cheat on your with…” and I felt disoriented, devalued, and discarded. I was unable to comprehend what happened. I was losing my sanity and desire to live.

Every hour of every day was a battle to survive. Suicidal thoughts and ideas were the front and center of my thinking while enduring abuse. I was in so much pain emotionally but I was also in pain physically every day. I drove 50 miles each way to go to work, which was 100 miles in traffic, often taking up to 2.5 hours of commute in one direction amounting to up to five hours of a daily commute.

My body was in pain from so much sitting but it was also injured twice in our first few weeks of marriage. The house where we lived had two stories with the master bedroom located on the second floor, so my injured body was worn out from the up-and-down in the house and the commute. My money was spent on IronMan addiction. My spirit was sucked out of me. My zeal for life was destroyed.

Self-care was the tool God gave me to battle the devil. To manage my intense anxiety, I had to shrink my thoughts about the future to only the next few minutes, only one task at a time.

Depression impaired my cognitive function after a few months of that devastating marriage, and my productivity was handicapped. I wasn’t able to do dishes, laundry, or even take a shower. Everything was overwhelming.

I used guided meditation for self-care.

God revealed to me through meditation how to focus on my breath and body muscles and how to let go of everything else. Prayer and meditation became my tools for surrendering every hour of every day.

To vacuum, mop, dust, and organize that two-story house at Adair Park in Cumming, which was always kept in order by me alone, I’d meditate and breathe and calm down, then do the laborious work.

The same was with every task.

I vividly remember my bed having no bedding for days because I was so thinly stretched between the daily house work, daily commute, daily marital conflicts, and daily abuse… To finally gather up my energy, I meditated and did half of my California King size giant bed. Then, I meditated and did the other half.

Meditation helped create some room in my headspace, the environment free of stress, even for just a few moments. Guided meditation enabled me to relax, focus on my breath, and disconnect from my miserable life with my abuser. The more tasks piled up as he filed for his second divorce in our first year of marriage, our divorce mediation took place, and I had to move for the second time within a year, all while working and commuting and dealing with depression, the more my body was shutting down.

Meditation helped me push through each day. I wasn’t able to think in terms of days as it was too much to handle. So, instead, I thought in terms of hours, the time from meditation to meditation. That allowed me to conquer daily tasks, keep performing at work, and survive that tragic marriage.

It was satanic in every way. I shared the details in my essay “How Satan Came at Me Looking Saint.” What I realized was that the guided meditation my type of self-care called for was Christian. I wasn’t able to find good Bible-based Christian meditations, so I created them myself for myself.

The self-care I needed was physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. I needed to let my body release its tension and get sufficient supplies of oxygen, which meditation helps do. Also, I needed a mental break from the overwhelming stresses which my abuse-filled life was throwing at me daily. Meditation offered a healthy and helpful headspace for that. Finally, I needed hope.

Scriptures-based guided meditations offered consistent hope by reminding me of God’s promises, His faithfulness, and what God says about me. Getting rooted and grounded in my identity as a child of God fueled my hope and gave me the energy I needed to fight the battle that was aimed at taking me down.

Remembering who I am in Christ – all feeding into my mind by the means of Christian guided meditation via Biblical affirmations – I was able to survive that season of darkness, to heal with time, and to thrive with God again.

I’m forever grateful for meditation self-care. Meditating daily on God’s word – with focus and effort – helped clear the fog in my headspace and empowered me to claim my mental clarity, spiritual strength, and physical wellbeing again! I’m still here, thank God for meditation self-care!
